From the moment Carson reached out about wanting to go to the mountains, I knew this session was going to be something special. Boone has always been one of my favorite places to shoot, and the idea of exploring its trails, fields, and overlooks with Carson, Vince, and their sweet pup Indy had me so excited. Indy was a little shy at first, curious but cautious around the camera, which made her moments of snuggles and puppy kisses even more special.

We hiked about thirty minutes to reach the most breathtaking view, the ground blanketed in the last of the fall leaves and the air crisp with that perfect mountain chill. Carson and Vince joked that they weren’t really “comfortable” in front of the camera, but I’d strongly disagree. They were playful, easy, and full of little moments of affection that made every frame feel alive.

At the top, the view was unreal. We wandered, snuggled, laughed, and let the evening unfold exactly as it wanted. On the way back, the field was dotted with deer, quietly watching us pass, adding a magical little surprise to the adventure. We ran, frolicked, and let Indy explore alongside us, capturing the kind of moments that feel effortless and completely real. Every laugh, every glance, every snuggle felt like it was already meant to be, like we were documenting a story that had always existed.

It was the kind of evening I’ll never forget — a perfect mix of adventure, connection, and pure joy, paired with the kind of mountain views that take your breath away and photos that I know I’ll be obsessed with forever.

I had been dreaming up this session in my mind for years. Bodie Island Lighthouse has always held a special place in my heart, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve imagined what it would feel like to shoot there, chasing light across the grounds, feeling the breeze off the coast, and capturing moments that feel completely alive. When Hailee & Anthony said they wanted to create this morning adventure with me, I was over the moon. They drove three hours to Nags Head to meet me at 6 a.m., arriving full of excitement and ready for whatever the morning held. We shot for a total of three hours, going wherever the wind blew us, with no expectations or limits. From the moment we arrived, the session unfolded like a dream, laughing, running, and exploring every corner of the lighthouse grounds. I had been imagining this session for years, and to finally take what was in my mind and see it come to life on the screen was truly amazing.
